Civil Staff Engineer EIT:

Job Description: Responsibilities: Duties include computer aided design and drafting, preparation of contract documents, engineering computations and budget estimates, inspection of construction projects and general project administrative duties for civil engineering projects. Examples of projects include road design, water and construction, trails, traffic signals, site development, and marina and dock design services. The candidate will collaborate with other Abonmarche departments including survey, architecture, and GIS. Education: BS Civil Engineering, Engineer in-Training Certification preferred. Qualifications: Good written and verbal communication skills. Basic knowledge of civil engineering principles. Ability to read basic civil engineering and architectural drawings. Ability to accurately measure and calculate items such as grade, area and volume. Knowledge of computer software and hardware, including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred. Familiarity with construction materials and procedures and construction documents a plus. This position does not offer Visa sponsorship.

Sr. Transportation/Design Engineer:

Job Description: Job Duties: Review assigned projects after award to define project scope, determine work procedures/sequences and develop schedules, budget, staffing, sub consultant involvement and progress billing. Generate invoices and monitor project status. Supervise and direct several entry-level transportation/design engineers including detailed review of design computations and reports. Coordinate and monitor the technical work of each task. Evaluate client needs and identify need for design changes and make appropriate recommendations including staffing, scheduling and budgetary needs. Serve as technical liaison between clients, agencies, subcontractors and design teams. Oversee project coordination, meeting schedules, and project budgets. Monitor progress towards deliverable schedules. Provide written communication with clients and agencies. Responsible for the overall engineering of the project, plan preparation, permitting, reports, etc. Supervise design and ongoing progress of a project, including project coordination with city, state, county officials and other outside agencies. Resolve a variety of complex problems like conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional designs and difficult coordination requirements. Review plans and prepare/review technical specifications, contract documents and estimates. Develop new clients and projects. Assist in business development activities including marketing, proposal preparation, interviews and presentations. This position does not directly supervise any employees. Minimum Requirement: Masters degree in Civil Engineering and two years of experience as a Traffic Transportation Engineer or related position or Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering and five years of experience as a Traffic Transportation Engineer or related position. Must have experience with design software used to prepare engineering and design documents such as Synchro/SimTraffic, SIDRA, Highway Capacity Software, and MicroStation. Must have experience in MDSHA and VDOT design methods, standards, and specifications.
